Zachary James is a 2022 Grammy Award Winner for Best Opera Recording and BroadwayWorld’s Vocalist of the Decade 2010-2020. Zachary has been on Broadway in the original casts as Lurch in The Addams Family and in South Pacific at Lincoln Center and Coram Boy. He made his West End debut as Hades in the original 2024 cast of Hadestown. Off-Broadway credits include the world premiere of Spain, The Pirates of Penzance, The Most Happy Fella and Irma La Douce. TV credits include SNL, Succession, Law & Order: Organized Crime, The Blacklist, Murphy Brown, 30 Rock and Holmes. He has performed leading roles in operas at The Metropolitan Opera, LA Opera, English National Opera, Teatro Real Madrid, Opera Queensland, Opera Philadelphia, Dallas Opera, Arizona Opera, Minnesota Opera, Opera Omaha, Fort Worth Opera, Opera Saratoga, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Des Moines Metro Opera, Central City Opera, Knoxville Opera, Nashville Opera, Opera Roanoke, Shreveport Opera, Anchorage Opera, Opera Ithaca, Union Avenue Opera, Ash Lawn Opera and more and concert works with New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, Philadelphia Orchestra, NHK Symphony Tokyo and Carnegie Hall.
